Structural design considers the applicable UK Building Regulations requirements and relevant Eurocodes and UK National Annexes for the agreed work.
When do I need a structural engineer?
Usually when work changes how a building carries loads—for example removing a supporting wall, adding an extension, converting a loft or altering a roof. An engineer can also assess specific concerns such as cracking. Send a short description if you are unsure what input is needed.
Will you need to visit my property?
It depends on the work and the available information. Some projects can begin with a desktop review of reliable plans and survey information. Others need a site visit, measurements or opening-up to understand the existing structure. We confirm the approach before appointment.
How long will calculations and drawings take?
We agree a programme once we have reviewed the scope and information. A straightforward beam design and a multi-part conversion need different amounts of work. Tell us your target date when you enquire; we will confirm availability and any information needed to keep the project moving.
Can you work with Building Control?
Yes. The agreed structural calculations and drawings can support a Building Regulations submission, and we can address structural queries within the appointment. Building Control decides on acceptance; other parts of the regulations may require information from your wider design team.
Can you give me a fixed fee?
Where the scope is clear, we can offer a fixed fee for defined deliverables. Your quote sets out what is included, any exclusions and the effect of extra visits, investigations or design changes. There is no obligation to proceed with an enquiry.
